This is our first post about the coverage we did on the FT86s at Tokyo Auto Salon 2017. This first part is focused on the second generation 86 (2016/2017 facelift/Kouki). The next posts will be about the first generation, but I’m sure you’ll also enjoy seeing the progress on the newly designed car.
Here are the tuners that made some awesome modifications on their Kouki’s:
Blitz
Blitz came up with a pretty cool adaptation of their existing widebody to make it fit the facelifted 86. The front bumper is insanely aggressive and so is the fenfer flares. They also decided to add a carbon fiber front splitter on top of that. It looks pretty nice with the stock rear spoiler, too. It’s also rocking the Enkei RS05RR Wheels.
Varis always release high quality, aggressive and nice flowing aerodynamics. The Kouki 86 is no exception. The White/Red/Black design also gives the car a nice sporty look. We can see the car rocking Front Lip, Hood, Side Steps, Rear Diffuser, Trunk & Wing.

During my first trip to Japan, after visiting D.Speed (blog post on this coming soon), the owner of the aforementioned shop informed me that on my way back, there was a shop I should visit if I like the new Toyota 86. I had never heard of Auto Factory, but decided to give it a go!
Auto Factory is basically a racing team who has close ties with Power Craft and Pro Composite (they also share many products). They are different companies, but I believe that R&D is a joint business. I arrived at the shop at around 9:00 PM, so please excuse the not-so-good quality of images.
The first thing you notice when you arrive at that shop is their legendary racing Toyota Levin rocking Weber carburetors and full wide body kit with SSR Mesh Wheels!
The shop itself is rather cool with some entertainment:
It also has a cool and classy waiting room:
They are pretty serious about racing, too!
And they also had some cool parts to take a look at:
But let’s not keep this blog post to their cool stuff that they

On a sunny day, I was driving back from Tokyo and saw a cool little K-Car parked on the side of the street. Back then (this is in 2014), it had the new Work CR-01 Wheels and I had to take a look at it!
Then, I saw a weird CIVIC (yeah it's a Civic) that had cool wheels on it:
And then I looked up and saw the WELD sign:
I drove away, but after some thought, I remembered that one of the nicest 86 I saw at Tokyo Auto Salon had a "WELD" logo on it. I decided to come back, just to make sure I did not miss anything.
Well, the U-turn was worth it. When I entered the shop, I saw this nice drift car on Work Wheels:
Then, I took a look at their tuning garage and their AWESOME 86 was sitting alone in the middle of it. Perfect to take pictures:
I tried to ask the owner some question, but he did not speak English at all, so I just sent him many thumbs
